Who We Are

Mission: Lighting the darkness of economic disadvantage by providing our community with hunger relief and clothing security programs. We meet practical needs in the community with love and compassion.

Illumination Community Outreach is a volunteer-run nonprofit based in Royersford. Our mission is to be a light in our local area for our neighbors experiencing food or clothing insecurity by providing emergency or regular aid.

Illumination was founded in 2018 by a small group of volunteers in the Royersford area of PA. Our original program aimed to light the darkness of housing insecurity in small ways. By handing out flashlights to those living homeless in our community and nearby cities, as well as food and clothing, we learned that small acts of practical kindness can cause a ripple effect for good.

As the needs in our local community became more apparent, we shifted our efforts to meet clothing security and hunger relief needs.

Illumination worked out of a popular ice cream shop in Pottstown from 2018-2020. They stored extra clothing in the shop’s basement and welcomed the needy and homeless to come and chat and grab some clothing if needed. This increased during the pandemic. Eventually, the ice cream shop closed their doors and Illumination relocated to Royersford. We partner with Royersford Church of the Nazarene (RCN) located at 445 Washington Street.

Our popular Community Resource Days began in the RCN gym. We hosted this event monthly for over two years. In 2024, we will have the official grand reveal of our new permanent clothing and food pantry rooms at the church! This resource will be available to those in need on the fourth Friday of the month at 5:30 or by appointment during the church community meal.

Community Resource Day will still continue quarterly. On the first Sundays in February, May, August, and November, all are welcome to come in, grab any clothing that they need, and sit down to a hot meal.

Our team has grown from 5 people with a dream to a volunteer team of over 30. We interact and reach out to so many in the community each month, and we are just getting started! We also partner with local sports teams, ministry groups, and businesses who share our vision of lighting the darkness in practical ways.
